Muubs and the art of slow living

Intrinsically I have always been drawn to design, shape and texture in whatever I buy, I think I get this from my dad! I remember buying my first flat in London which had beautiful, old sash windows. Against much opposition I chose to strip back all the windows to natural wood. It took me weeks to achieve but the result was spectacular and it gave the rooms so much depth, warmth and character.

That sense of achievement and transformation has never left me and I went on to only purchase items over time that spoke to me in a similar way. I've never been drawn to anything reproduced so when I discovered Muubs as I relocated from China back to the UK, it allowed me to refine my focus and live more simply.

The Muubs philosophy matched my own - the idea of less being more and that the beauty of things comes from their imperfections. It totally summed up the way I wanted to live my life, as I scaled back from consumerism and rid myself of the need to have more and more stuff in my life.

I like not needing so many things anymore. It feels good not to be contributing so much to all that rubbish we create. Our planet just can't cope anymore. Besides, simple things often say so much more.
